Baghpat: Maps have been made since ancient times for geographical information of the world, but there is a unique map in Baghpat, which is considered to be unique of its kind in the world. Historians claim that there are only two such maps in the whole world – one in India and the other in the British Museum. The specialty of this map is that it has been made using natural colors, in which the whole world is depicted in two and a half islands. In this map, rivers, mountains and other natural sites are also depicted with natural colors.
Historian Amit Rai Jain told that Jainism has a map of the whole world named ‘Adhay Dweep’, which was made around 12th-13th century. This map has been prepared on cloth, and the colors used in its making are completely natural. These colors prepared from the trees, plants, fruits, and vegetables of that time have been used in this map, which is a unique example of India’s painting style.

Jain said that this map has a unique depiction of geographical and astronomical events. It shows the position of rivers, mountains, seas, and other geographical sites in great detail. Historians and researchers working on Indian philosophy outside India are constantly in touch regarding this map. They are trying to uncover the secrets hidden in this map and bring it in front of the world.
A rare map in the British Museum
Historians believe that through this map, there can be a unique opportunity to present the ancient knowledge and culture of India to the world. This map can be placed in the rarest category. Some other maps also exist, but they are a little more modern and belong to a few years after this period. Another map of this period is present in the British Museum, and professors of London University are doing a comparative study of similarities with it.
